LOCAL MSP Annabelle Ewing has praised a local history group for their work in ensuring that everything that made the Benarty communities they are today is captured for future generations to enjoy.
The Cowdenbeath MSP constituency took the chance to visit a recent Open Evening hosted by the Benarty Heritage Preservation Group in the Benarty Centre.
Their she spoke with the members who have done a lot, in a few short years, to gather the background to how Glencraig, Crosshill, Lochore and Ballingry developed into sizeable communities as the coal industry developed and Glencraig and the Mary collieries became huge employers.
Speaking after her visit, Ms Ewing said: “It was a real pleasure to meet with the Benarty Heritage Preservation Group.
"It is always great to encounter real passion and commitment to our local heritage and ensuring that those things which made our communities what they are today are maintained for future generations.
“In that regard, it was a particular delight to get a chance to view their excellent display of local history memorabilia".
Ms Ewing added: "I congratulate the members of the Benarty Heritage Preservation Group on everything they have achieved so far and wish them every success in the future.”
