A MAN who caused a disturbance in his home after becoming concerned that his partner had been given a lift by a man has been placed on a restriction of liberty order.

Craig Anstruther, 39, of Melville Street, Lochgelly, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

He had previously admitted that on July 11 at his home, he acted in a threatening or abusive manner and struggled with his partner.

He also admitted a charge of being in possession of class A drug cocaine on the same date.

Depute fiscal, Dev Kapadia, said around 0.3 grammes of cocaine, with a street value of approximately £20, was discovered after Anstruther was arrested and taken into custody.

Police were called after an incident occurred at his home between he and his partner who had been in an "on-off" relationship for two years.

Anstruther's partner had gone out to buy food and had been given a lift back to the house by a friend.

"The accused had seen her coming out of a car," said Mr Kapadia. "He was concerned she was being dropped off by a male."

The woman had attempted to reassure him but he found himself being teased that it was a male by the woman's daughter and Anstruther became agitated. An argument started which escalated into a brief struggle.

Sheriff Alastair Brown placed Anstruther on a restriction of liberty order for 12 weeks requiring him to stay in his home between 7pm and 7am. He told him: "With your record, if you get into any kind of trouble, you are at serious risk of imprisonment."
