THE first photograph in this week's trip down West Fife's Memory Lane is from 1948 and is a view up Chalmers Street as seen from near the main entrance into Pittencrieff Park. The gap at the top right of the picture is the turning on to the Glen Bridge.

The second photograph, which will be included in the new 'Memory Lane' DVD, is from a year later in 1949 and shows the council houses being constructed in Woodmill Crescent. The view is looking up Blacklaw Road towards its junction with Woodmill Road and the Brucefield Hotel. The area was still very much rural with farm buildings seen on the left of what was a quiet country road at that time.
