THE Cardenden Environment Group's Christmas image design competition, for pupils at the village's three primary schools, produced some outstanding entries.

The winner sees the entrant's design created into a large motif which is displayed among the Christmas lights in Cardenden over the Christmas period and is unveiled at the big switch-on, which will this year take place on Friday November 29 at the Community Garden, at Derran Drive.

Said the Enviro Group's Vicky Murdoch said: "The quality of the entries this year was outstanding and the judges had a hard job choosing a winner.

"Our winning design this year was from Reno McNeill, who's design of Santa going down the chimney, will be made into a pole mounted motif and will be on display from Friday November 29".

The runners up were Grant Page, Jacob Hendricks and Chelsea Graham, and they are pictured with Environment Group members, David Doig, Caroline Davidson and Vicky.

The switch-on event next Friday, at the Community Garden, will start at 4pm when there will be carol singing and warm mulled wine on offer with the lights being officially turned on at 4.30pm.
