A KELTY man was caught driving when unfit to do so and then found to be in possession of a knuckle-duster.

Jason Martin, 42, of Croftangry Road, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on November 11, last year in Croftangry Road he was driving when unfit through drink or drugs.

He also admitted that at Dunfermline police station, he was unlawfully in possession of an offensive weapon, a knuckle-duster.

Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf said a police patrol car came across the vehicle being driven by Martin at around 9am.

The way he was trying to manoeuvre out of a parking space attracted their attention.

He was then found to be heavily under the influence of alcohol by the officers. Four packets of drugs were found in the vehicle and there was a smell of alcohol in it.

When the knuckle-duster was found, Martin claimed it was used as a “paperweight”.

Defence solicitor Ian Beatson said: “He’s had a fairly bad drug problem but has been turning the corner.”

Sheriff Alastair Brown commented: “It seems that’s exactly what he wasn’t able to do on this occasion.”

He called for reports and Martin will be sentenced on December 12.
