THE armed police drama in Kirktoun Street, Ballingry, yesterday, went on until the afternoon when a team of six officers forced their way into the house and arrested three people.

It all kicked-off in the early hours of Wednesday when a disturbance occurred in Kirktoun Street and soon after units from Lochgelly Fire Station were on the scene after an outbreak was reported in the property.

The street was sealed off and armed officers arrived and within a short space of time a police cordon was thrown up around a number streets in the township.

It appeared that people were refusing to leave the property and in the forenoon a team of police negotiators arrived to try an persuade the people in the house to come out.

At around 1.30 a group of armed officers, with a battering ram, forced their way in to the house and two men and a woman were arrested.

It is expected they will appear in Court soon.

The day's activities saw people have to change their routines markedly with the 12 hour of police activities in the centre of Ballingry and it meant that parents taking their children to the nursery and schools had to change routes.

It was indeed a day never to be forgotten by people living in the centre of the township.

Local councillor, Lea McLelland, was relieved that things ended peacefully and posted on Benarty Matters: "I am delighted that the incident in Ballingry has come to a peaceful end.

"I have to congratulate Police Scotland on how they handled the full incident, they kept everyone aware of what was going on and kept everyone at a safe distance."
