A DRIVER had to be cut free from his vehicle after it was involved in a collision with a crash barrier on the A92 near the Lochgelly Interchange on Saturday.

The accident happened on the northbound carriageway at around 10.30am and saw the road closed for several hours.

Crews from Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene as the casualty was trapped in the vehicle and he was released before being treated at Victoria Hospital, in Kirkcaldy, for what were understood to be serious injuries.

The road remained closed to allow for debris to be cleared and an accident investigation to be undertaken and the carriageway was reopened shortly before 1pm.
