THE Opthalmic Clinic at Queen Margaret Hospital has received funding from the Coaledge Tavern Thursday Night Quizzers, in Crossgates, to buy televisions for the patient waiting area and also Dab radios.
Several staff members from the clinic often take part in the Thursday quizzes at the Coaledge and each quiz night is a fundraiser for charity.
Several times a year funds are disbursed to causes suggested by quiz participants.
Said the Quizzers’ treasurer Maureen Cuthbertson: “The Quiz was set up by Brian Kyle, from Dunfermline, and has been running since 2014.
“The donation to the staff at the Opthalmic Clinic brings the total in donations made by those taking part in the quizzes to £10,000, which for a small village pub, is quite remarkable.
“The Quizzers prefer to generally keep their donations local, to schools, and small enterprise groups, although over the years charities like The War Blinded, The Doddie Weir Foundation, Help for Heroes, and the Scottish Mountain Rescue Service, along with various hospital wards and cancer charities, have received support.”
Added Maureen: “When we heard of the clinic’s need for the televisions and Dab radios we decided to make this latest donation go to that cause and our photograph shows staff in front of one of the purchases.”
