A KELTY woman was caught drink-driving at almost four times over the limit.

Another motorist had contacted the police after becoming concerned there was going to be a crash.

Jill Savage, 39, of Keltyhill Road, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

She admitted that on July 31 in Station Road, Lochgelly, she drove a car having consumed excess alcohol. Her reading was 87 millilitres of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 22 millilitres.

Depute fiscal, Azrah Yousaf, said that Savage had driven home from the Thornton area.

Another motorist following behind her became concerned about her driving and contacted the police.

“The vehicle was veering about the carriageway and was almost involved in a collision,” she added.

The police were given the registration number and turned up at Savage’s door where her car was parked and the bonnet was still warm.

She admitted she had been driving and failed a breath test.

Defence solicitor, Chris Sneddon, said her client works as a scientist. He added that she had been depressed around the time of the incident and had made a suicide attempt by jumping out a window, sustaining serious injuries.

Sheriff Charles MacNair imposed a 16-month driving ban and a £400 fine.
