COWDENBEATH defender Chris Hamilton played an important role in the Scotland 19s win over Germany on Tuesday night.

Chris as been an ever present for the Blues in their amazing six wins in a row Ladbrokes League 2 run, since joining on loan from Hearts in August.

The former Beath High School pupil has been a stand out for Cowden in the run but has also been appearing on the international stage for the Scotland 19s.

The Scotland side took on Germany at Firhill in a Group 3 qualifying tie and recorded a 1-0 win through a Josh McPake goal in 44 minutes.

The defence was a key element in the win with Kelty lad Chris an important part of it.

With the Germans desperately seeking an equaliser in the second-half the Scotland defence was busy and Chris was a stand-out using his excellent reading of situations to the full to mop up several serious German moves.

The win sees Scotland top of Group 3, a point ahead of Germany and Scottish FA performance director Malky Mackay said: “That result will have been noticed around Europe."
