HILL of Beath Hawthorn are this week starting the search for only the fourth manager in the club's 44 year history after Kevin Fotheringham stepped down on Monday.

Kevin took the decision after the Haws went down 1-0 to Gretna in the William Hill Scottish Cup on Saturday but the Keirs Park committee were very disappointed to lose someone who has been a player, and manager for two and a half years.

He leaves the club with the side sitting in fourth place of the East of Scotland Premier League and in a number of cup competitions and has been joined in leaving by assistant boss Darrin Wright and coach Stevie McInroy.

Haws chairman Dave Baillie has began the search for a new manager: "We are really disappointed to lose Kevin, Darrin and Stevie who have been playing a great part in this historic time for the club turning senior two years ago.

"We would like to warmly thank all three for their contribution."

He added: "We will be advertising the position of manager and in the short term we are very grateful to our development manager John Mitchell for taking the squad for training this week and being prepared to take the team for Saturday's game against Penicuik at home.

"We are now seeking only the fourth manager in the club's history and we have and open book on the issue and it will be interesting to see who is interested in taking over the role".

Kevin was very disappointed at the result at Gretna and told the Times it had been the worst performance he had seen from the team since his arrival but it was still a major shock when he announced his decision to quit the job.
