COWDENBEATH MSP, Annabelle Ewing, hopes that the Cowdenbeath Civic Week 5k, run last weekend will become an annual event.
Praising the organisers for an excellent event, Ms Ewing said: “I was delighted to be able to attend Cowdenbeath’s first 5k run.
"Organised by the Cowdenbeath Civic Week Committee and the Jog Cowdenbeath group, with the help of Cowdenbeath Football Club, at whose Central Park home the event was held, it really was a fabulous community event.
“Over 250 runners ran the 5k, including many from community teams, and with the funfair activities and a large number of stalls, it was a great family day out".
Ms Ewing added: “Congratulations to the category winners and to all who took part, although a special mention has to go to Alex Haddow from the organising committee, who sweated his way round, masquerading as Bluebell the Cowdenbeath Coo, the Cowden mascot!
“Very well done to all the organisers and here’s hoping this becomes an annual event.”
