THIS week's Down Memory Lane photographs come from Cowdenbeath man Dick Bathgate and the Times Picture Memory Box.

Said Dick: "The picture of the firefighters comes from a member of the retained crew in Cowdenbeath before Lochgelly Fire Station was opened.

"It comes from around the late 1970s and is of the winners of the drill competition held at Fife Fire Brigade headquarters in Thornton.

"The Lochgelly Station team of Leading Fireman Smith and Firemen Geddes, McDonald and Connelly won the Simpson Challenge Trophy, while the Cowdenbeath Station team of Leading Fireman Mercer and Firemen Philbin, Black, Mather and Drummond won the County Cup. Also pictured are the winners of the Clayton Trophy, and Fife Fire Brigade Shield from St Andrews. The trophies were presented by Firemaster Fraser Ballantyne."

Also from Dick is a picture of the Cowdenbeath Army Cadets from the late 1960s.

The pictures from the Times Picture Memory Box are of Lynn McLaren, the Cowdenbeath swimmer who swum for Scotland and is photographed collecting her medal after a winning swim; while Health and Wellbeing is a buzzword these days, but 40 years ago it was seen as important too and this is a picture of Health Club members in Lochgelly.

If you have any old photographs you would like to see in Down Memory Lane send them to editorial@centralfifetimes.co.uk or take them to the Times Office, 17 Bank Street, Lochgelly, on a Monday or a Friday between noon and 3.30pm.
