MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife Claire Baker joined officers from Cowdenbeath as part of the Give a Day to Policing initiative, which saw MSPs invited to join police officers across the country for a day.

The day’s activities involved a variety of aspects from seeing the prioritisation of day-to-day business at Glenrothes HQ, discussing policing challenges with frontline officers and spending time with local policing teams in Cowdenbeath and Dunfermline.

Claire Baker MSP said: “This was a very useful and informative visit and I am grateful to Fife Police for hosting me and providing the opportunity to learn more about their daily work and responsibilities."

"Spending the day with our local police in Glenrothes, Dunfermline and Cowdenbeath offered me first-hand insight into their work and the operational challenges facing policing in Scotland.

"I was particularly pleased to visit Beath High School and meet PC Calum McDougall, who is based on campus, and hear about the positive work he is achieving in partnership with the school."

"Our police forces make a significant contribution to communities across Scotland, working hard to keep people safe. It is important to recognise the important role they play.”

Ms Baker also met Inspector Gavin Cameron on her visit to Beath, who heads the community team in Cowdenbeath.
