THE Village Fair Committee in Cardenden could not have asked for a better day on Sunday for the 2019 event.

After the weather posing problems at times on the days leading up to the Cardenden Village Fair, at Wallsgreen Park, Sunday dawned dry and sunny and it turned out to be a marvellously warm day.

Indeed, perhaps once of the best days yet for a Fair in the former pit village.

It really was a great day for all age groups with pony rides and Alba Falconry's lovely birds of prey a big attraction along with fairground show rides.

New to Wallsgreen was the ‘Go Kart Party’, an exciting new company who organise children’s birthday parties and the kids loved trying their hand with the karts .

The Kirkcaldy Air Cadets joined with the RAF to give adults and children the chance to experience being at the controls of a fighter aircraft.

The centre area of the park featured the Suzette Twirlers, Bowhill Karate Club, Kirkcaldy Pipe Band and Sarah Hendry’s Highland Dancers. Remus Equestrian also put on a small show and demonstrations were provided by Templehall United FC juniors (Age 6-7), and the Malone Dance Company.

Between performances the popular children’s races took place with thanks going to local undertaker John Gilfillan who put things together.

There was also face painting by Angela’s Squiggly Faces, and Exquisitely Beauty’ful provided glitter tattoos.

Among the visitors were the Cardenden members of the Cowdenbeath Community Police team, PCs Gavin Keith and Brittany Primeau and Councillor Rosemary Liewald.

Another visitor was village MP, Peter Grant who said: "The organisers were worried until a couple of days before hand that the ground might be too waterlogged at Wallsgreen Park; in the event it was sunblocker rather than wellies that we all needed.

"As well as being well supported by commercial trade stalls, the Fair was a good chance to catch up with the extraordinary range of voluntary and community groups either based in Cardenden or run by folk from the village. A big thank you to them and to the volunteers who made the Fair such a success".
