THE people of Lochgelly were warmly praised for the input that saw the weekend's gala a huge success.

The town's MSP attended the Lochgelly Parade and Gala Day on Sunday and said it was an event which saw people have a lot of fun despite the weather being a little variable.

Speaking after the event, Ms Ewing said: “The rain certainly did not dampen spirits at Lochgelly Parade and Gala Day.

"There were some great floats, lots of folk lining the streets to watch the parade, and loads of stalls and activities at the Gala itself at the Public Park.

“The award-winning Lochgelly High School Pipe Band were on fine form, fresh from their appearance at the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, where they ranked a very creditable 5th place in their category.

"“It was also fantastic to see so many children in the fancy dress competition this year. Well done to all!"

And the MSP added: “Thanks must go, as ever, to the Lochgelly Gala Committee, who work very so hard throughout the year to ensure the Gala is such a success and a great family day out".
