ROCKORE was a huge success on Saturday as 3,500 music fans piled in to Lochore Meadows Country Park.

The wet weather of the days leading up to the event meant that the grass was a little soft but the weather throughout the afternoon part of the festival was pretty sunny if a little breezy.

There were a couple of heavier showers in the evening but the event went well.

The headline band was The South. When the great British pop institution, The Beautiful South, split in 2007, some members of the band didn’t feel ready to hang up their microphones or instruments just yet…

Two years later, singers Dave Hemingway and Alison Wheeler, alongside life long members Damon Butcher (keys), Gaz Birtles (sax) and Tony Robinson (trumpet), came out of retirement and formed the 9 piece band, The South.

Bad Manners have always been popular with ska fans and they didn't disappoint and also on stage were local band The Other Side with local Benarty boys Tam Kirby, Michael Sneddon, Pep and Budgie Crowe.

Oskar Braves, a 5 piece explosive alternative rock band hailing from Dunfermline, were superb as were Simple Minded who had the fans thinking back to when Simple Minds were high in the charts.

Joe's Band brought the curtain down on the festival and for Joe it was his last appearance at the Meedies and it all added up to a memorable day. More on Rockore 2019 next week.
