A BALLINGRY woman assaulted another female at a Hogmanay party.

Celebrations to ‘bring in the bells’ turned to violence between two former friends, a Court has heard.

The victim was grabbed by the face, pulled to the ground by the hair and then repeatedly punched by Kim Ford.

Ford, 31, of Kirktoun Street, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court as a result of the incident on January 1 at Lochore Welfare Club, Main Street, Crosshill.

She admitted assaulting a woman by seizing hold of her by the face, pulling her by the hair to the ground and whilst on the ground repeatedly punching her to the head, to her injury.

Depute fiscal, Dev Kapadia, said the two women had been friends at one time but had fallen out.

Ford became “aggrieved” when her attempts to speak to the woman were rebuffed, he added.

“Staff at the club became aware that there may be trouble at closing time,” he went on.

This turned out to be the case with Ford attacking the woman, who sustained swelling, scratches and bruises.

Defence solicitor, Alexander Flett, said his client had “a different explanation” about the incident. “Her position is a drink was thrown over her by the complainer,” he added.

The Court was told Ford is already on a community payback order.

Sheriff Craig McSherry imposed another community payback order with 120 hours of unpaid work.
