FAMILY members screamed as a Lochgelly man pointed a knife at himself during a drunken rumpus at his home.
Alexander Dixon, 52, of Cartmore Road, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He admitted that on February 17, at his home, he shouted, swore, acted aggressively, threw food, made offensive remarks and threats to self-harm when in possession of a knife.
Depute fiscal, Dev Kapadia, said the background to the incident was growing concerns his wife had at the time about Dixon’s “binge drinking”.
Before the offence, Dixon had been drinking wine and an argument began which resulted in him shouting and swearing.
He also threw a McDonald’s meal about the room and was verbally abusive to his wife, calling her a “bitch”.
Dixon then took hold of a knife and was pointing it at himself, with his wife and daughter screaming.
“When police arrived both witnesses were extremely frightened,” added the depute.
Defence solicitor, Elaine Buist, said her client was a first offender and the couple are still together.
Sheriff Craig McSherry deferred sentence until November 13 for Dixon to be of good behaviour.
