COWDENBEATH MSP Annabelle Ewing has reacted with anger to the further incidence of unplanned flaring emanating from the ExxonMobil plant at the Mossmorran petrochemical complex late on Monday night.
Ms Ewing said: “Once more my constituents are forced to put up with the noise and light pollution of unplanned flaring as Exxon deal with a mechanical failure at their Mossmorran plant.
“Worse still, is the worry about what chemicals might be getting pumped in the air when this happens and I have asked SEPA where they are deploying air quality monitoring equipment and whether they will be launching investigation into this further unplanned flaring incident.
“I am seriously concerned at the frequency with which problems are arising at the Exxon side of the Mossmorran complex. This needs to be addressed as a matter of absolute urgency.
“On behalf of my constituents, I am extremely angry that instead of improving, this of unplanned flaring seems to be accelerating.”
