NOT long now before Lochgelly has it's 2019 gala.

Derek Johnstone and the rest of the committee are very excited about this year as they have had a fantastic year of fundraising, bucket collections and an amazing response from many local businesses and members of the public, who have donated prizes and money for this year's event on Sunday.

Said Derek: "We can't thank them enough for their generosity.

"We have introduced wristbands for the first time and would urge folks to purchase them before the day as we have a limited quantity. Also, there will be two life size Transformers (Optimus Prime and Bumble Bee) who will be parading around the park.

"These 2 Transformers are guaranteed to be a big hit with the kids as well as the adults. Hopefully, the weather will be kind to us and everyone will come along and fill the streets and the park. The gala committee have worked hard and we hope everyone has a fantastic day.

"Here's what we have so far for the parade...Chopper bike, Classic Cars, Pipe Band, Highland Dancers, Noah's Ark (Float) Zodiac Dancers, Resonate, West School, Tai Quan Dao, Community Youth Group (Float), Pace Car with Ninja Carts and Mini Stocks, Shardy's (Float), St Patrick's school, Lochgelly Brass Band, Majorettes, Carmen Duff (float), Meedies Running Club (float), Minto Lounge (float), South School, Scouts, Co-op (float), Newfoundland Dogs, and the Army",

At the park.......The fancy dress age categories are 6 and under, 7 and over and will be judged just after the official opening at approximately 12 noon. Added Derek: "We also have inflatable fun, pony treks, army assault course challenge, petting zoo, birds of prey handling experience, face painting, Magic Delboy, soft air target, tombolas , community stalls, vintage cars and bikes, best float, park performances, mechanical rides and many more.

"Joe's Band will draw the raffle at approximately 3pm before playing to the park for around 2 hours. Tickets will be available on the day at the gala tent along with a list of prizes that will be won on the day.. Also, John Gilfillan will be hosting the kids races and a Tug o War.

"We would like as many adults and bairns to get involved in both events and no matter what the weather throws at us don't let it spoil the day".
