BALLINGRY woman Bailie Connelly cannot believe the support she has received from the Benarty community after fire severely damaged her Cleikimin Crescent home.

Bailie had been on a camping break last Friday night and was shocked when she got a phone call to tell her that her home had been severely damaged by a blaze.

It meant that the young mum, and four year-old daughter Kaylin, were homeless but within days the community was rallying around.

Her aunt started a GoFunding page with a target of £800 to help replace the furniture and clothes that had been ruined in the fire and it immediately received tremendous support.

And this week Bailie and Kaylin were given donations from Lochgelly undertaker John Gilfillan, of £100 and also £200 from Cowdenbeath Rotary Club.

Said Bailie: "I often wonder if I had not been on the camping break that myself and Kaylin would have been in the house when the fire occurred.

"The smoke seems to have been really intense and I have wondered, could we have got out?"

She added: "The support from community has been unbelievable and I cannot thank everyone enough.

"I have been told that we will be getting a scatter flat in the meantime and the items of clothing and furniture that have been donated will go along way to helping us get our lives back on track. I do not know what I would have done without this incredible backing from everyone."

Bailie said such has been her state of mind trying to get her mind around what has happened she has been unable to reply to the many Facebook messages of support received but she will be doing shortly and added: "My gran and aunt have been unbelievable, and without them and the community, I do not know what I would have done."
