COWDENBEATH Environment Group wants the people of the town to play their part in the bid to reach Gold status in the Beautiful Fife Awards.

Since April it has been a busy time for the volunteers, leading up to the Beautiful Fife judging next week.

Work has been done in the Community Woodland to make things look even better and more attractive, and the story has been the same at the Millennium Garden, in Perth Road, where every effort has been made to ensure things are looking good, or in the High Street, where the flowers are looking a picture in their planters.

But the volunteers would like the public to play their part in ensuring the town is totally ready for the visit of the judges next week.

Said a member of the Group: "As judging comes up on July 23 locals, residents and visitors can also do their bit.

"That could mean picking up after your dog, putting your litter in the bins provided or reporting any illegal dumping, especially in the High Street area.

"This will all help keeping the town looking good for the visit of the judges and might persuade them to think that the town is deserving of higher than Silver Gilt this year."

The volunteers are made up of people of all ages who are out and about doing their best to enhance Cowdenbeath.
