COWDENBEATH MSP Annabelle Ewing took part in the Benarty Gala Parade and praised the organisers for their resilience in ensuring things went ahead after vandals destroyed the portable toilets at Lochore Meadows Country Park.

Congratulating the Benarty Events Group on a successful day, Ms Ewing said: “It was a delight to participate in the Benarty Gala parade alongside local councillors Lea McLelland and Rosemary Liewald.

“The few showers that appeared did not dampen spirits and not only did the sun come out, so did the crowds.

“It was a great day and fantastic value for families.

“What a wonderful group of volunteers the Benarty Events Group is - and their eleventh hour emergency sourcing of alternative portable toilets after the originals were burnt down was amazing!

“The community stood tall.”

It was on Friday night that the block of portable toilets were destroyed by fireraisers and thanks to the work of the BEG volunteers and three local businessmen replacements were in place to allow the Gala to go ahead.
