COWDENBEATH Rotary Club played host to three special visitors on Thursday.

The three young ladies were in the area for just over a week as part of the Polar Girls Cultural Exchange project, the vision of three of the young girls from the Lochgelly High School Polar Academy team.

On their return from their 2018 Arctic expedition to Greenland, the Polar Girls Exchange Project team, Carla Masterton, Hannah Reid and Lauren Scott, were inspired to explore the development of a pilot youth exchange project between girls from Lochgelly and girls from Tasiilaq, in Greenland.

The three visitors explained how they had had a lovely time in Scotland and were looking forward to having the Carla, Hannah and Lauren with them in Tasiilaq from July 23 for 10 days.

They explained: "We have a fantastic time in Scotland.

"The welcome has been marvellous and we have some memorable experiences.

"The day shopping in Edinburgh was fantastic but we have also been at the Safari Park, B'oness Gala and had other lovely visits.

"We are looking forward to seeing Carla, Hannah, and Lauren in Tasiilaq."

The LHS trio have spent months fundraising to make the Exchange happen and they are delighted with the support they have had.

They were welcomed to the Rotary Club by retiring president Norman Black and new president Yolanda Hilton.
