A MAN turned on the gas in a Cardenden house and threatened to ignite it.

Craig Marshall, 29, of County Houses, Fordell, appeared from custody at Dunfermline Sheriff Court for sentencing.

The ex-serviceman previously admitted that on February 19 at Cardenden Road, Cardenden, he turned on a gas supply within the house, threatened to ignite it with a lighter, to the risk of himself and other occupants in the building and to the danger of explosion.

He also admitted that at that address and at Dunfermline Police Station he threatened to ignite gas with a lighter and made threats of violence towards police officers and against their families.

Defence solicitor, Elaine Buist, said her client suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from his time in the forces.

Sheriff Craig McSherry imposed a community payback order with 12 months’ supervision and 240 hours of unpaid work.
