COWDENBEATH players David Cox and Robbie Buchanan, along with two of their colleagues, were involved in a road accident on their way to training on Tuesday night.

The club is currently training in St Andrews and the Cowden group were heading through North East Fife when the car they were travelling in was involved in a collision with a BMW at a junction as they neared their destination.

The striker and midfielder were both suffering from bruises from their experience and went to hospital for check-ups.

David Tweeted after the accident: "Five minutes from training and this happens! No one seriously hurt but we were very lucky. Severe whiplash coming on. Think I'll be sore tomorrow!"

Robbie said on his Twitter account: "Am gone to hospital mate, stiff as a board!"

Both cars were seriously damaged but the two other players involved, believed to be a player training with the Blue Brazil and full-back Fraser Mullen, were shaken but not badly hurt.

Club director David Allan said: "The lads were nearing St Andrews when the accident occurred.

"The vehicles were seriously damaged and Robbie and David went to hospital for a check-up and are suffering from a few bruises.

"It was a really difficult evening for the lads and they had to get a taxi back to Cowdenbeath to add to the problems."
