COWDENBEATH Civic Week Committee were really pleased with the way gala day, and all things leading up to it, went.

The weather was really good for the big day and there was no doubt that the Tea Dance at the Cowdenbeath Palais De Danse, was a fine way for things to start.

Around 80 senior citizens enjoyed an afternoon of dancing, songs around the piano and of course afternoon tea. There was also a piper performance by S1 pupil Jamie Watt and visits from a therapy dog and pony. An exhibition of old gala photos was also on offer.

Claire Morgan, an executive on the gala committee, said: “This is the second year we have done this for the mature members of the community.

“It’s a ticketed event but it’s part of our civic week to make sure there is something for everyone. The amount of dancing going on will stick out in my memory.

“Scottish dancing but also there was some up doing line dancing. We’re thinking about repeating it at Christmas as everyone really enjoyed it. Our pictures by Ted Milton show some of those who enjoyed the day and special guests at the Tea Dance with the pony being a real star and also special dogs.
