AFTERNOON tea with young carers takes place at St Serf's Church Hall, in Lochgelly, on Monday as part of Young Carers Week.

The Fife Young Carers organisation is based at the Ore Valley Business Centre in Main Street, and they are hosting the event.

FYC's Amber Reid said: "In Fife, we have thousands of young carers who do an outstanding job.

"A young carer is a child/young person who cares for a family member who may suffer an illness, have a disability or mental health issue or suffer from substance misuse. They take on the care role – anything from personal care and domestic chores to helping to look after siblings and paying bills. All of these things take their toll on young lives.

"The tea, coincides with Carers Week 2019, and it is good to raise awareness with professionals within all sectors in Fife, about young carers and acknowledge and support the sterling work they do every day".
