THE children of Crossgates bid farewell to their Oor Wullie statue as he embarked on a new adventure as part of Oor Wullie’s Big Bucket Trail.
The children were presented with a blank canvas and organised a whole school competition to design him.
The winning design was Ma Pal Wullie Primrose which features the Crossgates School tartan, the Forth Rail Bridge and 3D primroses.
Primroses were picked as the theme by design winner, Lewis Stevenson.
Wullie’s girlfriend is called Primrose Patterson and of course Primrose is the football team in Crossgates so he wanted to celebrate this.
Wullie will now go onto the trail with other statues. After six weeks, he will be returned to Crossgates.
Lisa O’Donnell, class teacher said: “It was a fantastic opportunity that the school was lucky to have.
"It has been a great activity for the children to be involved in and will raise awareness for Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity.
“Many of the children can’t wait to visit Oor Wullie over the summer.”
