A MAN died in a road accident on the M90 yesterday morning near Kelty.

The incident occurred shortly after 7am on Sunday on the northbound carriageway, between Kelty and Blairadam, when a car left the road and collided with a tree.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We can confirm that one man has sadly died and another was seriously injured after a road traffic collision involving one vehicle on the M90 northbound.

"Emergency services were called to the scene between Junctions Four and Five just after 7am.

"The injured man has been taken to hospital in Edinburgh and inquiries into the collision are ongoing.

"Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area around the time of the accident and witnessed the collision to come forward quoting incident number 1207 of May 26."

The accident saw traffic build up as the northbound carriageway was closed and police diverted cars, vans and lorries through Kelty for a considerable time while investigations went on at the scene.
