NO waiting restrictions are set to be imposed on busy junctions in the centre of Crossgates.

After hearing about complaints of vehicles parking on the junctions with the village's Main Street, Cowdenbeath Area Committee have agreed to the promotion of a Traffic Regulation Order for introduction of 'No Waiting At Any Time' restrictions on Cobden Court and Hillview Crescent at their junctions with Main Street.

Lead Consultant for Traffic Management for South Fife, Phil Clarke, told councillors: "Cobden Court is a short residential cul-de-sac which accesses onto Main Street from the east side while Hillview Crescent enters Main Street from the west side.

"Local residents have raised concerns about vehicles parking on the junction of Cobden Court and Main Street, which blocks sightlines when emerging from the junction and is contrary to the Highway Code."

Mr Clarke recommended that in order to enforce the Highway Code roles it was proposed to introduce No Waiting At Any Time restrictions around the junction at Cobden Court and as Hillview Crescent was nearby, NWAAT restrictions to tackle any displacement parking from Cobden Court.

He added: "As there are already waiting restrictions on Main Street around this area enforcement will be possible as part of the normal beat of Parking Attendants.

Councillors agreed that this was an important traffic issue in the centre of Crossgates and agreed to Mr Clarke's recommendation.
