SOME 53 Lochgelly High S2 pupils participated in the ‘Powering Transformations’ workshops held at the University of Dundee, in conjunction with Dell.

The aim of these workshops was to highlight to the young people that accessing university education is both achievable and enjoyable.

After a tour of the university grounds the young people got to use innovative and up-to-date technologies, such as Virtual Reality headsets – which proved very popular!

The young LHS people were then split into teams where they were to develop a piece of technology that would solve one of the many social and environmental problems our world is currently facing.

Ideas ranged from a robot to help alleviate mental health concerns, to robots which would help to cleanse the oceans of pollution and toxins.

The teams from Lochgelly were an asset to the school and engaged in every task and activity in a professional manner.

Workshop staff commented on the ‘outstanding energy’ and ‘phenomenal thinking’ of the brilliant cohort!

The winning team of the day ‘Exo-Body’ have now progressed to a Regional Final in the hope of beating schools from across the North of the United Kingdom!

Said one of the tecahers involved: "Excellent work by everyone involved and we are very proud of the standard of engagement, effort and work"!
