A woman reported missing from the Cowdenbeath area has been found "safe and well".

Police Scotland issued an appeal to help trace Gillian Aldi after she left an address in the Hill of Beath sometime after 5am on Wednesday, May 15.

The 26-year-old had not been in touch with her family and there were concerns for her welfare, with a suggestion she may have been intending to travel to the Aberdeen area.

However, in a statement this afternoon, police confirmed that she was no longer missing.

It said: "Police in Fife can confirm that a woman reported missing in Cowdenbeath has been traced safe and well."

Police said she had been found in the early hours of this morning and added: "Officers would like to thank all those who assisted with their appeal to trace Gillian."
