THE Shell Mossmorran gas plant is holding a family fun day in Aberdour next month in collaboration with Aberdeen Science Centre.

The free event for communities near the plant aims to encourage and inspire young children to explore and question science through hands-on experiments and interactive fun in easy workshops and entertaining shows.

The science show will include workshops by Glasgow Science Centre, Body Works, Viking Scientist, Archaeology Scotland, the Institute of Civil Engineers, Napier University and the Shell Saltwater Car Challenge.

There will also be other attractions such as Angela's Squiggly Face-Painting.

Shell Fife NGL plant manager Teresa Waddington said: "Science plays an important role in meeting some of society's most pressing challenges, including the need for more clean energy.

"Having fun with science at an early age can encourage children to further their interest at secondary school and beyond and we're all for this.

"We would also like to meet with our neighbours. Please come along and enjoy a free day out."

The event on May 25 opens at 10.30am and closes at 4pm.

Refreshments including hot drinks, scones, and juice and crisps for children will be available throughout the day. There will also be free parking at St Colme House, Aberdour, KY3 0RT.
