FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze behind a Cardenden shop yesterday afternoon.

The Lochgelly fire team were sent to the Green Local store in Cardenden Road, between 4pm and 5pm, when a vehicle behind the shop was discovered to be on fire.

The vehicle appeared to have been abandoned in the yard for some time.

As one contributor to the Fife Jammer Facebook page observed: "The car has been there for months.

"Could have been bairns that set it up."

The car was surrounded by old fridges, amongst other rubbish, but the firefighters did not take much time to extinguish the outbreak.
