THREE Beath High School pupils travelled to Stockholm, in Sweden, to embark on a week-long coaching placement at local schools and clubs and they were great ambassadors for the school.

The pupils experienced Swedish culture alongside their placements whilst staying at the internationally renowned Boson Sports Centre.

All pupils were fully funded for their coaching programme, including flights, accommodation and access to sports facilities.

Alice Fox and Rhona Wilson’s placement was at AIK Malarhojden Tennis Club, where they were able to observe / analyse performance tennis players train and the coaching they received.

They also took responsibility for numerous other club duties and were able to put their own coaching skills to the test with some of the junior players at the club.

Maia Beeson’s placement was through Lidingo Swimming Club where she was again able to observe the swim coaches teaching the athletes and then able to take the lead herself by taking sessions throughout the week.

Said a spokesperson for the school: "The overall experience for the pupils was exceptional.

"They had responsibility for travelling around Stockholm using provided travel passes, building relationships with each other and placement supervisors and were trusted to plan, organise and communicate themselves with some support from the Active Schools team."
