THE Coalfields Regeneration Trust (CRT) is marking 20 years of helping mining communities recover from the devastating effects of pit closures.

The Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly area has benefitted greatly from the Trust's work with its Futures initiative working well in Kelty, Benarty, Crossgates<Cardenden and Kinglassie.

Over the year the Trust will be reflecting on progress made in regeneration in Scotland by over 1,000 community groups since 1999.

To mark our 20th anniversary, under the theme ‘Pits, People, Progress’ a reception will take in the Scottish Parliament, hosted by Colin Beattie MSP, who will also unveil 'Our Pits, People, Progress’ banner designed in collaboration with the communities with which the Trust has worked.

The banner is designed in the style of the mining banners that pits used to have.
