THE rehearsals are now at full throttle for the the area's two musical associations as they prepare for their 2019 shows.

Kelty Musical Association are staging Chicago at Dunfermline's Carnegie Hall, from May 1 to May 4, while Lochgelly and District Musical Association will be putting on Evita from May 29 to June 1, at Lochgelly Centre Theatre.

In addition this year the LADAMA Theatre School is staging The Little Mermaid JR at the Centre from Wednesday July 3 to Saturday 6th, so it is a busy time for the production teams.

The Lochgelly Association were delighted to be able to perform Evita, an iconic show, and have had a pre-show boost by receiving a grant of £550 from the Voices o'er the Loch charity.

With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and lyrics by Tim Rice, this is the first time LADAMA has staged a musical based on a true story.

Said LADAMA president Bill Paul: "Set in Argentina the story revolves around the life of Eva Peron.

"It contains several very well known songs such as 'Don't Cry for me Argentina', 'Another Suitcase In Another Hall' and 'Night of a Thousand Stars'."

The show will open on the night of Wednesday May 29 through to the Saturday and includes a matinee that day.

A new innovation this there is the formation of the LADAMA Theatre School, an organisation for youngsters aged between 8 and 15.

Added Bill: "Over 40 kids will be involved in this first ever show which is The Little Mermaid JR.

"It is based on the Hans Christian Anderson story and Disney film."
