THE new Community Sergeant in Cowdenbeath is Kate Blackwell.

Sergeant Blackwell was welcomed aboard by Community Inspector Gavin Cameron and she is looking forward to working with the team which have become familiar faces throughout the Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly area.

The former Community Officer in South West Fife, who replaces Caine McIntyre, was appointed Sergeant in Dunfermline in November 2017 and has really enjoyed the role.

Said Kate: "I have found the first few weeks in the impressive Cowdenbeath Community team very interesting and I an looking forward to working with our partners and the many local organisations who do a good job throughout this area.

"There are a number of ongoing matters which I am involved with ranging from road safety to youth issues and we have a fantastic team here who are popular in Cowdenbeath, Lochgelly and the villages."

The Cowdenbeath Community Sergeant is also looking forward to working with the Junior Road Safety Teams at local primary schools.

Community Inspector Cameron said: "Kate has made a good impact in the short time she has been with us and will be working with our many partners in several initiatives that will be taking place over the coming months."

There is also an addition to the Cowdenbeath Community Team.

PC Graeme Gardiner will be working with PC Fiona Menzies in Cowdenbeath, Hill of Beath & Crossgates.

He will soon become a familiar face in the community and schools.
