ARBROATH'S success at winning promotion to the SPFL Championship on Saturday was strongly featured on the Sunday sports pages of the national papers.

It was the first title decided this season and the Lichties' success has a strong Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly flavour to it.

For manager of the Gayfielders is Lochgelly man Dick Campbell, and his assistant is twin brother Ian, who between them, have guided a club that was in the wilderness for many years, into the second tier of the professional game in Scotland.

Arbroath were able to keep the challenge of full-time Raith Rovers at bay all season and the 1-1 draw at Brechin on Saturday guided them to the League 1 title with three games still to play.

A remarkable achievement for the twins, for Raith were the bookies' favourites to win the league, but the tremendously hard work of the duo have guided the Maroons to one of the greatest moments in their history.
