BUDDING artists have been given the chance to display their artwork on their local high street in celebration of Mother’s Day.

Co-op Funeralcare in Cowdenbeath and Lochgelly ran a competition in schools where children from Primary 3 classes drew pictures of their mums (or dads and carers).

The winning artwork has now been framed and will be put on display in both Co-op stores.

From Foulford Primary School in Cowdenbeath the winner was Ana McGillivray, while Ailie Young was the Lochgelly South Primary School winner.

Both girls and their mums were presented with cupcake bouquets from Gayle’s Cakes, sweets, and a bottle of Prosecco for the mums!

Debbie Beveridge, from the Co-op, said: “We wanted to celebrate Mother’s Day. Lochgelly South picked their own winner but the staff at the Co-op picked Ana from Foulford because it was a brightly-coloured and a happy-looking picture.”
