LOCHGELLY'S Mossview at the Opera Care Home is ten years-old and on Friday a special day of celebration involved all the senior citizens who are residents at the Francis Street facility.

Mossview at The Opera carries the name of the former site of the residential care home in South Street, and its new site which was that of Lochgelly's famous Opera House.

It was a place where many famous artistes performed and shows were staged. It was also used as a cinema for some years.

The person behind the day's events was Activities Co-ordinator, Yvonne Kavanagh, who was delighted at the way all the residents were able to play their part in a programme which saw children from the town's Sunflower Nursery pay a visit and sing some songs.

Then artiste Liz McEwan performed songs which spanned more than a few decades with the residents singing along.

However, real star of the day was longest serving resident at Mossview at The Opera, Beth Watson, who was among the residents the day the facility opened in 2009.

Lana Napier, manager of the facility, was delighted with the number of family members and friends of residents who went along to join in the activities.

Also taking part in the celebrations was area manager, Joe Janikowski, who was very impressed with the celebrations.

Said Yvonne: "Beth mentioned it to us at the start of the year that the 10th anniversary and she felt it was something that deserved to be marked in style.

"I thought that she was spot-on and things went brilliantly on the day with the Sunflower children and Liz McEwan playing lead roles.

"It was tremendous that so many residents' family and friends came along to be involved, making for a lovely atmosphere. A day to remember for sure."
