THIS week's Down Memory Lane photographs come from books collected by Cowdenbeath woman Mary Burt, from Foulford Street.

Mary came across three books, Old Lochgelly by Rhona Wilson, Old Cowdenbeath, by Jim Hutcheson and Bygone Days of Benarty by Benarty Millennium Group and we are delighted to be able to publish pictures from them.

From Old Cowdenbeath we have a picture of the No7 Colliery, which was near Central Park. The pit employed well over 500 men at its peak production level. Also from Old Cowdenbeath is a picture of Cowdenbeath Wednesday, a football team who played at North End Park and was made up of shopkeepers who had Wednesday afternoons off.

They had a particularly successful season in 1911-1912 season and they are pictured with one of their trophies. Also there is a picture of the town's High Street in 1954, around the time the Arcade Cinema was burned down. The other picture comes from the Bygone days of Benarty and shows a group of children from Montrose Street, Lochore, around 70 years ago.

If you have an old photograph you would like to see in our Down Memory Lane feature send it to editorial@centralfifetimes.co.uk or take it to the Times Office, 17 Bank Street, Lochgelly, on a Monday or a Friday.
