BENARTY women got together to learn new crafts on International Women's Day.

Benarty Community Centre was the venue when Amy Beveridge, one of the group members demonstrated the basics in crocheting.

Challenging indeed!

The group meets weekly under the title of "Feel Good Friday". This group is open to people in the Benarty community to attend at the Flockhouse Avenue Centre.

Said Community Worker Karen Heriot: "The Community Learning and Development approach focuses on what adult learners wish to do in their sessions.

"Individuals in this group have been confident to share some of their craft skills. "It has been great to see the women share their knowledge appreciating that they have something to offer others and that we don't need to be experts. "At present we have a 12 week programme concentrating on trying out new crafts using predominately recycling materials.

"The sessions are free and childcare is available in the crèche. Due to the nature of the sessions new members can join at any time and are made very welcome".

The benefits of being part of the group speaks for itself. There is crocheting again next week if anyone wants to give it a try!
