A CROSSHILL man was caught driving while disqualified at a fast food restaurant has received another ban.

Robbie Grieve, 25, of Castle Avenue, later said he was having a "cheeky shot" of a friend's car, however, this proved costly.

He appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Wednesday after previously admitted driving at McDonalds, at Fife Leisure Park, while disqualified on February 1 this year.

Defence solicitor, Roshni Joshi, said her client's previous 16 month ban period had expired, however, he had not sat the extended test after it had finished.

"He fully accepts responsibility for what he described as a very stupid decision on his behalf," she added.

Sheriff James Macdonald said the offence was a "clear defiance" of a Court order.

"What I am left with is a clear case of driving while disqualified because you took what you called a cheeky shot of someone else's car," he added.

He placed Grieve on a community payback order with supervision for 12 months and a requirement to attend the road traffic offenders' group work programme.

He also ordered him to do 160 hours of unpaid work within three months and banned him from driving for two years.
