EIGHT Lochgelly High pupils were delighted to travel to the Waid Academy at Anstruther on Thursday February 7 to participate in the Fife Schools Literature Quiz 2019.

Two teams, from S1 and S2, joined pupils from across Fife to compete for the honour of knowing the most about books and literature in this annual event.

Pupils were selected after a tough, highly competitive quiz which took place in English classes and were excited to show off their knowledge on the day.

Although neither team won the overall trophy the teams performed brilliantly over the 10 rounds of the event and represented the school wonderfully in terms of behaviour and effort.

The S2 Team (Vinie Lithgow, Cole McLaren, Katie Donaldson and Chloe Courts) came top in an individual round winning a book each and Cole won a "spot" prize for his Terry Pratchett knowledge.

The S1 team (Matthew Innes, Shay McLelland, Kerr McAuley and Joanne Taylor) didn't win any specific prizes but were great ambassadors for LHS and enjoyed the day. There was even talk of starting to prepare early for the 2020 quiz so that they could do even better next time!

Mrs Milligan of the English Department said: “it was a privilege to accompany the two teams to Waid and to see them in action, competing against other schools in Fife.

"They were a pleasure to spend the day with and fabulous representatives of Lochgelly High School. It was a very proud teacher moment!"
