NEXT week Beath High School pupils will get the chance show their amazing creation skills in Northern Ireland.

In November Ms Brown's S3 Art and Design class were challenged to design and make a costume for a cat walk fashion show, purely from junk collected in the Art Department.

The class are taking part in 'Junk Kouture', a Bank of Ireland sponsored event which is also open to Scottish pupils to enter.

Over a period of two months, in teams of three, Rachael Dalziel, Nicole Finlayson, Morgan Jamieson, Fallon Kellichan, Billie Jones, Colby McDonald, Eden Mitchell, Calum Omand, Claire Scott, Logan Bernard and Calla Philip, let their imaginations run wild to produce their stunning costumes.

They used everything from packaging materials, plastic bags, sheeting and foil, old lace, old teddy bears, cds, a fish net and old computer parts, to make these stunning outfits.

These costumes were then entered into the Regional Final in Derry, Northern Ireland, at the end of January.

Said Ms Brown: "Early this month, we were delighted to learn that one of the teams had been successful.

"On Friday March 1, team ‘Mother Earth’ (central design) will travel to Derry where Eden Mitchell, the team’s model, will strut her stuff on the catwalk at the ‘JunkKouture’ Regional Final in front of professionals from the fashion and entertainment industry including the X-Factor judge Louis Walsh!

"They will be judged on the costume, use of materials, make-up and hair design, as well as the performance. "Going on last year's, entries, competition will be stiff but the group have the support from all at Beath and I’m sure they will do us proud. Good luck team Mother Earth!"
