IT'S a sad indictment that they're needed at all but foodbanks in Cowdenbeath and Benarty have brought out the best in their local communities.
Volunteers said the amount of donations for the Cowdenbeath facility over the whole of 2018 had been "heartwarming" and thanked people from the town and the surrounding villages for their generosity.
Football fans also played their part with the Lochgelly Celtic Supporters Club collecting 57kg of food and £220, at a social day in The Old Ship in Lochgelly, to support the Benarty Foodbank.
Team leader of the Cowdenbeath Foodbank, Pat Spence, said: "We normally do our best to individually acknowledge each and every donation but in December it was impossible due to the overwhelming amount of most welcome donations from individuals, groups, schools, work places, shops and organisations out there in the community.
"We do hope that people remember us throughout the coming year as our need continues month on month."
For anyone who would like to donate to the foodbank, which is in the old bus waiting room at Broad Street near the taxi building, it is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4pm to 6pm.
Pat added: "Again on behalf of Cowdenbeath Foodbank from the bottom of our hearts thank you for helping so many folk and families that need that little bit of help in time of crisis."
