THE Lochgelly based Nardone Academy of Performance Art has been greatly encouraged by the quality of the young artistes who came forward for auditions for their next show, Legally Blonde The Musical.

The show will this time be staged at Dunfermline's Alhambra Theatre over three days, August 29, 30 and 31.

The Lochgelly Centre has been home to the Nardone Academy, formerly Lochgelly Youth; but the opportunity came up to stage this show at the 1,000 seater Alhambra.

The auditions were held at the Alhambra by the Academy's board with director Liam Nardone running the eye over potential lead role candidates and he was impressed with what he saw.

Said Liam: "To be honest the auditions went amazingly! "We have a strong female principal cast and a hardcore group of dancers!"

But he added: "We are still searching for male actors for some lead male roles but apart from that it was the best audition process I’ve ever had! Tickets are even on sale already so the ball is rolling pretty fast! It’s going to be the best one yet I feel!"

Liam has been the person that has guided the former Lochgelly Youth Theatre through several successful shows, the last of which was the Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime at the Lochgelly Centre just before Christmas.

In less than two years they have mounted five shows and seen a host of young performers show the immense talent there is in the area and Liam is confident that Legally Blonde The Musical is going to be right up there with the other successful shows the group has staged in a really short period of time

The Academy is based at the former Lochgelly Baptist Church Hall in Station Road, Lochgelly, where rehearsals for their previous shows have gone well.

Liam will be working on getting the potential male leads recruited as rehearsals go into full swing for this show which centres around Elle Woods, an attractive, wealthy and popular fashion merchandising student and president of her Delta Nu. But her hopes are crushed when her boyfriend, Warner Huntington III, breaks up with her over a romantic dinner rather than proposing to her, as she was expecting.

He argues that he needs a more serious woman in order to fulfill his political aspirations, which include attending Harvard Law School. Encouraged by her friends, Elle decides to also enroll in Harvard Law in order to win Warner back. After much effort, Elle manages to gain admission but soon discovers that the personalities and atmosphere in Harvard are very different from hers and she is thrown out of class during her first day by the strict Professor Stromwell and a classmate named Vivian for not having prepared for the lecture. Elle is later horrified to discover that Vivian is Warner's fiancée!
